Clinton’s annual Colt Starting Clinic is no longer just for participants! If you have a colt that you would like started under Clinton’s expert supervision while taking advantage of the ranch’s world-class training facilities, one of these options may appeal to you.

Option #1: Participate in the clinic with your colt.

  • Bring your colt to the 10-day clinic and receive hands-on help learning Clinton’s colt starting technique, step-by-step. You’ll experience what it’s like to give a horse a safe start and build his confidence under saddle.
  • Price: $1,500/No Worries Club members or $3,000/non-members.

Option #2: Have a Certified Clinician start your colt.

  • All of the Certified Clinicians will be on hand to assist Clinton during the clinic and are available to start a colt. Next to Clinton, there’s no one more experienced than a clinician using the Method to start a young horse. Please note that at times the clinician will not work with the colt during the clinic as they may need to assist participants, but the colt will receive the full training experience by being worked before or after normal clinic hours.
  • You are welcome to watch the clinic, but you will not be permitted to interfere with your horse’s training or participate in the clinic itself. At the end of the clinic, the Certified Clinician will spend several hours with you in a mini-training session, demonstrating to you what your colt has been taught.
  • Price: $1,500/No Worries Club members or $3,000/non-members.

Option #3: Have an Academy student start your colt.

  • As part of their education at the ranch, Academy students who wish to pursue a career as a Certified Clinician must participate in the Colt Starting Clinic. These individuals are experienced horsemen who are passionate about the Method and will train your colt under Clinton’s supervision. It’s a great and inexpensive way to get a good, safe start on a young horse.
  • You are welcome to watch the clinic, but you will not be permitted to interfere with your horse’s training or participate in the clinic itself. At the end of the clinic, the Academy student will spend several hours with you in a mini-training session, demonstrating to you what your colt has been taught.
  • Price: $740 ($500 for the clinic and 12 days of board at $20/day.)

The Colt Starting Clinic will take place June 1st – 11th at the Downunder Horsemanship Ranch in Stephenville, Texas. View the clinic application online. Contact Brittney Morgan with any questions or to enroll at 254-552-1080 or [email protected].
